IN THE YEAR 2525 (EXORDIUM AND TERMINUS) / ZAGER & EVANS

"In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)" is a song U.S. duo Zager & Evans, which was released as a single in June 1969 and caused anger across the planet because of its subject related to science fiction.
This duo, consisting of Danny Zager and Rick Evans , had a short but successful career especially influenced by this song that was very close to the famous space race that everyone was waiting for the technological revolution that this brought.

The story goes that Rick Evans (50% of group) wrote this song in mid-1964 as a hard and devastating critique of technological advances, as these new artifacts left side human involvement (or simply amarrarĂan us to live in front of a machine) to help the cycle extinction of man in some 500 years.
The song contains the subtitle "Exordium & Terminus " which is a more elegant and soft to say "Beginning and End" , which went hand in hand with the harsh reflection on the human relationship vs modern technologies.

Recently in 1968, the duo was able to record this song in a formal way, and did so under the seal Truth Records, which was a small company that was heavily promoted in villages and small towns across America.
Thus was made known throughout the state of Nebraska , where the radio stations fished for single and gave a lot of promotion, as the theme called too much attention. Sure ... It was a song to reflect and enjoy.
A year later, Zager & Evans received a great "good news" : The label RCA records trnasnacional Dad had in mind the quality of its musical material, espcial in his newly released single, and gave them a contract to promote it now throughout North America.
Obviously this news and the firm fell like a glove these two young musicians who started playing in the courtyards of the Wesleyan University.

But the RCA were far from stupid, and given the theme of the song decided to publish it as a single in the pre Apollo 11 began its final tally for his landmark trip to the conquest of the Moon.
So it was that same day Neil Alden Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked and danced (?) On lunar soil as children with a new toy "In The Year 2525" reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 step and became the summer smash hit of 1969.
For many it was the soundtrack of this historic step in the space race, and was reflected and the six weeks that was ranked No. 1 in the acclaimed U.S. ranking.
Same story in the UK, where the song broke all records reaching # 1

gold records, awards and lots, invitations to the most popular TV programs in Europe and the U.S. were the best musical talent award of these two musicians who had a smile for several kilometers in width after the success of this song.

But the fame of the song was so great that it overshadowed the rest of the musical material of Zager & Evans and that played a trick on him, bringing them within months of victory at the artistic disaster.
A "One-hit Wonder " master emblematic of the history of the genre and of the 60's, who took leave with a handful of songs that mixed psychedelic sounds with lyrics full of pure science fiction.
Enjoy!
