BILLIE JEAN / MICHAEL JACKSON

"Billie Jean " is a famous song by American musician Michael Jackson which was published on January 3, 1983.
This song is also part of its successful LP Thriller, which was his most acclaimed musical work as the eccentric Muscio makes clear its quality as a composer, and also marks a period in the history of music with detailed discussion external to the left crowned "King of Pop ."

The story goes that in late 1981 an anonymous fan began harassing an extreme way to shy Michael Jackson . His harassment ranged from sending letters almost every day to follow his idol everywhere. But if there was something that marked in history was when the singer sent him a fan of such cards but this time with a very special message: We noted that the father of her son was and Michael Jackson was going to court to prove paternity. The news marked a MJ, and took him to be more unsure of his artistic life, and incidentally decided to hide even more of the fans and the press.
"Yes, indeed. This song was about a girl who managed to climb beyond its walls. In fact, Michael says that one day he woke up one morning and was very scared when she saw the woman lying in a pool in a bathing suit. To him that she was a stalker, and the way she accused him of being the father of one of his children, "said the producer Quincy Jones in an interview with Rolling Stone in 1999.

With that idea in his head, Michael Jackson set out to write a song that portrayed this unusual time.
While recordings began Thriller, MJ took a few hours of rest and took out with his friend Nelson Hayes to know various Ventura and suddenly came up with a good pace, which was also quite catchy. Michael
was very comfortable with his new creation, so much that she asked Hayes them back immediately to the studio to record before you forget most of the notes. Haye s turned around and the car stayed with the engine off and waited until the start work. Both do not know what to do, until a young derrepente motorcycle appeared and informed him that his Roll-Royce was on fire and encouraged them to go away before it becomes a tragedy
"That guy saved us life. If the car had exploded might not be here talking about it. I could not manage to get out because it was so comfortable with that tune floating in my head that I did not think of the tragic moment viviĆ " comment MJ years after an interview to a British.

Once in the recording studio and after saving his life, Michael began recording the song in a "home" and was almost 3 hours fixing the underbody.
Once finished, the music caught the tape and it was to submit to the producer Quincy Jones , who was working on his project Thriller .
The first criticism came from the mouth of Quincy Jones was the long duration of the introduction of the topic. Jones liked the idea and asked to MJ to amend it, but this simply responded with a resounding "no" . "The reason for Michael to include a long-lasting introduction was by his desire to dance. And when Michael was with the desire to dance always ended up winning" comment in 2009 the producer.

Another criticism was made Jones was the name the song title, because I was afraid that people associate it as a tribute to the famous American tennis player Billie Jean King . Jones wanted to name it " Not my Lover", but Michael nor caught, the song was his total ...
Thus, in one take, MJ recorded his landmark "Billie Jean" , which basically was not a tribute to the acclaimed tennis player, but was a fictional character made to talk about those women who invented false child singer and his other brothers, when they were on top of the music world with the Jackson 5 .

With a mix of R & B and Funk, "Billie Jean" broke it on the radio and the charts after selling more than two million copies and reached # 1 on Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for almost 9 weeks in mid-1983.
It was also the song with which MJ left with their mouths open to the world after making his debut with his new step: the magical motion Moonwalk.
That historic moment was the date as March 25, 1983 music special occasion of Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever . It was at that moment when MJ not only sang his most famous song but also challenged physicists and mathematicians (?) With attractive step dance was seen by 47 people milloones through NBC chain in May of that year.

A song all prizes awarded there, and won the absolute immortality thanks to its popularity. In fact, after the death of MJ "Billie Jean" started ringing again with more strength on all radios of the world as a tribute to one of the icons of pop music A great, a genius, a classic .. . The great Michael Jackson!

CRUEL SUMMER / BANANARAMA

"Cruel Summer" is a song by British group Bananarama , which was released as a single 23 June 1983 commercial promoting his second album titled simply "Bananarama" and with these three girls who became famous for all Europe.
This acclaimed trio of pop music, composed by the beautiful Sarah Dallin, Keren Woodward and Siobhan Fahey , left their mark very marked during the early 80's with songs that became in a few weeks in hits that went around the world , and also drew attention to a proposal be showing very different to everything that he paced the music scene in those years.

After nearly 4 years waiting for the arrival of a hit, the girls who were part of Bananarama managed to record a song that looked like something serious, in terms of sales.
After a good debut with his LP "Deep Sea Skiving" , where it took several cuts that were very touched by the British radio, the three girls began work on his siguiete album, which had to be made clear to criticism that it was not just a disposable band, and they were all musical weapons to achieve a worldwide hit.

So, in April 1983 in the studios of London Records label the Bananarama recorded a song called "Cruel Summer" , which was signed by three members of the band over its producers Tony Swain and Steve Jolley .
That song, which as already mentioned looked like a hit, talked about a woman who is depressed in the middle of a city that has been revolutionized by the arrival of summer. She feels very sad because her boyfriend has left for good, feels this is a "cruel summer" . That theme song is born ...

In June 2009, in an interview with The Guardian , Sara Dallin mentioned that "the songs that make the youth are those who leave in the summer, you remember all those glorious moments of the holiday. But in this song touched the dark side of those moments: The sweltering heat mixed with hardships of a young girl who wanted to spend a summer together. "
That game was a good hook contrasts trade as they went from the mold of a typical summer song full of positive statements, the chanted "all clear" relaxation the end, looks at girls in bikinis and all otherwise decorating the table so colorful yet with a strong seasoning charged fantasy.

With his arrival at # 8 UK Singles charts in July 1983, Bananarama again managed to be in the British arena and be as popular as they had done a year earlier. But there was a big step: conquer a good place in the U.S. charts.
In the first instance, which included single "Cruel Summer" only managed to enter at # 66 on the Billboard Hot 100.
But in 1984, Bananarama managed to enter the Billboard at # 9 because they decided, reluctantly, to include this song in the soundtrack of the film The Karate Kid , which was quite an event in the united and it rose to the top of international fame to this British trio.
On those days, Dallin recalled in the interview with The Guardian : "It was a great success in the U.S. will always remember that moment when he left a hotel in Los Angeles and I saw Mike Tyson sitting in his self heard "Cruel Summer". When he saw us, he came to greet and congratulate ... "

Years later, after be regarded as "the most popular female group in the UK , the Bananarama suffered their first setback when Siobhan Fahey decided to leave the band due to internal problems and was quickly replaced by Jacquie O'Sullivan .
With its new member, the girls released a new version of this song as entitled "Cruel Summer '89" , including touches of Hip Hop. This version was again a hit in the UK reaching # 19 on the charts.

But the success of the song does not end there, since in 1998 the Swedish band Ace Of Base made a version of the hit eighties and managed to put back into the Top Ten U.S. and UK.

A song suitable for all nostalgic for the 80's, and to remember those summers more cruel than any citizen of the world had ... Enjoy it

WHERE DO THE CHILDREN PLAY? / CAT STEVENS

"Where Do the Children Play?" is a song by British musician Cat Stevens (now known as Yusuf Islam ) and gives the start his acclaimed album Tea for the Tillerman ", published in 1970 and became what he recognized throughout the world thanks to the great songs it contained, that even today are considered classics.

this amazing song in this sensitive composer makes a harsh reflection on the man and the destruction of the environment, which was a much discussed topic since the mid 60's.
Stevens has always been a critic of the war, racial discrimination, poverty, ecological disasters and the future of humanity. Whenever I had questions and inspiration needed, put these issues on the table in some other song.

In this case, "Where Do the Children Play?" talks about environmental pollution. It recognizes Cat Stevens and put cold cloths to usefulness of technological advances to human beings but question the fact that these large machines from damaging the natural environment making this world a simple and vague concrete jungle.
"I have nothing against technology, but also feel sorry to see all those trucks full of gas wells and the large concrete constructions that leave many children without a place to play in their cities" would Cat Stevens in an interview with the BBC a few days before publishing his acclaimed fourth album.

In fact, the Cat Stevens song recounts his phrases and metaphors from the point of view of a man who does not reject technological change but that day day questioned whether this progress is indeed a necessity if every time they are but few places where children can play and be free to the world.

With songs as impressive as this, "Tea for the Tillerman" album became a luxury, which broke all records in terms of sales in England and the United States is devoting a good musical career that would a breaking point when dropped his protest and his guitar to enter Islam.
But beyond controversies, Stevens left us a great album which comes out this wonderful song and it certainly should be an album that all Man must hear before you die ...
Enjoy!
